As stated on the cover, this book is a guide to growing and harvesting flavorful teas in your own backyard. The book includes a history of tea, how to choose the best tea plant for your garden, and tips for brewing tea. The author gives an extensive list of plants used in brewing all types of teas from white tea, green tea and black tea to many herbal and fruit teas. This list includes growing zone information for each plant as well as tips for getting the best brewed cup of tea from each plant.
There is a very important disclaimer advising the importance of correct identification of plants before consuming any part of the plant or tea made from any part of the plant due to possible adverse effects and even poisonous plants. I really appreciate the author’s diligence in warning of these dangers. I enjoyed this book very much. It provides detailed information on the plants and tea brewing process without being overwhelming. This is a book I would recommend and one I plan to refer to as I explore tea gardening and brewing that perfect for me, cup of tea
